Begin with a shared question
Collaboration does not require agreement with the wider programme. A useful exchange may begin with a narrow technical question: a finite theorem, conventional benchmark, numerical method, empirical dataset, representation problem, tunnelling observable, many-body model, or mathematical counterexample.
The preferred approach is to begin with the smallest shared technical question and allow broader implications to emerge only when the work supports them.
